Charity Schools

Charity Schools are educational institutions established to provide free or affordable education to children from less privileged backgrounds, often funded by charitable donations or voluntary contributions. Originally prominent in the 17th to 19th centuries, these schools aimed to promote literacy and moral values among the poorer population, especially in England. They operated independently of government systems, relying on community support and religious organizations. Today, many charity schools have evolved into or been absorbed by wider public or private educational systems, but their core purpose remains to ensure that disadvantaged children have access to quality education.
