Charge of the Light Brigade (battle)
The Charge of the Light Brigade was a famous cavalry attack during the Battle of Balaclava in 1854, part of the Crimean War. British cavalry units, following a miscommunication, launched a reckless and ill-coordinated charge against well-defended Russian forces. Despite heavy losses and the danger, they fought bravely, highlighting both their courage and the chaos of war. The event became legendary, symbolizing heroic but tragic valor in the face of impossible odds, and was later immortalized in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem.
