Charcot foot
Charcot foot is a serious condition often seen in people with nerve damage from diabetes, where the bones, joints, and tissues of the foot weaken and collapse. Because nerve damage reduces pain sensation, individuals may not notice injuries or stress on the foot, leading to unnoticed fractures and deformities. Over time, the foot may become swollen, red, and warm, and its shape can change significantly. Early detection and treatment—such as rest, immobilization, and controlling blood sugar—are essential to prevent severe deformities and preserve foot function.
