Channel Markers

Channel markers are distinguishing signs or buoys placed in water bodies to guide navigators safely through channels, harbors, or along coastlines. These markers indicate safe paths for boats and vessels, helping to avoid shallow areas, rocks, or other hazards. They come in various shapes, colors, and patterns, each conveying specific information about navigation rules. For instance, red markers typically indicate the right side of a channel when entering from the sea, while green markers indicate the left. Following these markers helps ensure safe passage and reduces the risk of accidents on the water.
