Channel Estimation

Channel estimation is the process used in wireless communication to determine the characteristics of the transmission environment between the sender and receiver. Since signals can be affected by obstacles, interference, or movement, the receiver needs to identify how the signal has been altered to accurately interpret the data. By sending known reference signals (pilot signals), the receiver analyzes how these are received and adjusts itself to better understand the current conditions. This process ensures the data can be decoded correctly, improving the reliability and efficiency of wireless communication systems.
