Chancellorsville

The Battle of Chancellorsville, fought in 1863 during the American Civil War, is considered a Confederate victory. It took place in Virginia and was led by General Robert E. Lee. Despite being outnumbered, Lee's innovative tactics and a bold surprise attack against Union forces commanded by General Joseph Hooker resulted in a significant Confederate win. However, the victory came at a high cost, including the mortally wounding of Stonewall Jackson, one of Lee’s key generals. The battle highlighted the importance of strategy and leadership in warfare, but it also demonstrated the heavy human toll of the conflict.
