Chalcidian League

The Chalcidian League was an alliance formed around 430 BCE among cities in the region of Chalcidice in northern Greece. Its purpose was to unite these city-states for mutual military defense and economic cooperation, especially against external threats like the Persians and rival Greek powers. The league allowed member cities to retain some local autonomy while banding together for collective strength. Over time, its influence fluctuated, and it played a role in regional politics and conflicts during classical Greece.
