Chakma refugees
Chakma refugees are members of the Chakma ethnic group who fled their homes in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts due to conflict, land disputes, and discrimination. Many sought safety in neighboring India, especially in the states of Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam. Some have been living in refugee camps for decades, lacking full citizenship rights and access to resources. The situation reflects complex regional issues involving ethnic identity, political tensions, and border concerns. Efforts are ongoing to address their livelihood, legal status, and integration, but challenges remain in ensuring their rights and stability.
