Cetane Number

Cetane number is a measure of how quickly and easily diesel fuel ignites when injected into a diesel engine. Higher cetane numbers indicate the fuel ignites more readily and smoothly, leading to smoother engine operation, better fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions. Conversely, lower cetane fuels ignite more slowly, which can cause rough idling, knocking, and increased emissions. Think of cetane number as an indicator of the fuel's "flash point" or how quickly it fires up inside the engine, helping manufacturers and consumers choose fuel that ensures optimal engine performance and longevity.
