Cervical caps

A cervical cap is a small, flexible, silicone cup that is used as a form of contraception. It fits snugly over the cervix, the opening to the uterus, to block sperm from entering. When used with spermicide, it provides a barrier method of birth control by preventing fertilization. The cap is inserted into the vagina before intercourse and left in place for several hours afterward. It’s reusable and needs to be fitted by a healthcare provider to ensure proper size and comfort. Cervical caps are an alternative to other barrier methods like diaphragms and require proper use for effectiveness.
