Cervical Biopsy

A cervical biopsy is a medical procedure where a small sample of tissue is taken from the cervix—the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina—for examination. This is usually done to check for abnormal or precancerous cells, often after abnormal Pap smear results. The procedure is typically quick, performed in a doctor's office, and may cause minor discomfort or cramping. The sample is sent to a lab for analysis to help diagnose conditions like infections, inflammation, or cervical cancer, guiding appropriate treatment or further testing if needed.
