Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs)
Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) are trained healthcare providers who are specially qualified to support healthy pregnant women during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. They are certified by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) after completing specific education, supervised clinical experience, and passing a competency exam. CPMs typically provide prenatal care, attend home or birth center births, and offer postpartum support. They focus on individualized, natural childbirth options and emphasize safe, respectful, and empowering care within regulatory guidelines. Their role complements maternity care providers and is recognized in many regions as authorized for out-of-hospital births.
