Cerebrovascular accident (CVA)

A cerebrovascular accident (CVA), commonly known as a stroke, occurs when blood flow to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. This can happen due to a blood clot blocking an artery (ischemic stroke) or a blood vessel bursting (hemorrhagic stroke). The result can be sudden loss of movement, speech, or other functions, depending on the affected brain area. Prompt medical attention is critical, as early treatment can minimize brain damage and improve recovery outcomes.
