cerebellum (anatomy)

The cerebellum is a brain structure located at the back of your head, underneath the larger brain part called the cerebrum. It plays a key role in coordinating movement, balance, and posture, ensuring actions are smooth and precise. The cerebellum has a highly folded surface made of gray matter and underlying white matter that helps process information quickly. It receives input from sensory systems, the spinal cord, and other brain regions to fine-tune motor activity. This allows you to walk, run, or even write with stability, motor accuracy, and coordination.
