cerebellar cortex

The cerebellar cortex is the outer layer of the cerebellum, a part of the brain located at the back of the head. It plays a key role in coordinating movement, maintaining balance, and ensuring smooth, precise actions. The cortex is made up of tightly packed nerve cells called neurons, which process information from different parts of the brain and body. It integrates this input to fine-tune motor activity, allowing us to perform activities like walking, writing, or playing sports with accuracy and coordination. Essentially, it acts as the brain’s quality control for movement.
