centrosymmetry

Centrosymmetry in a structure means that if you draw an imaginary point at the center of the structure, every part of the structure has a mirror image directly opposite it across that center point. Essentially, the structure looks the same when rotated 180 degrees around this center point. This symmetry is important in understanding properties of crystals and materials, as it can influence their optical, electrical, and mechanical behaviors. In essence, centrosymmetry indicates a specific kind of balanced, mirrored arrangement of components in a material.
