Centrioles

Centrioles are small, cylindrical structures found in most animal cells. They play a key role during cell division by helping to organize the microtubules that separate chromosomes, ensuring each new cell gets the correct genetic material. Typically, they come in pairs and are located near the nucleus, forming part of a structure called the centrosome. While essential for cell division, centrioles are not present in all cell types, such as plant cells. Their precise functions are still studied, but they are understood to be crucial for maintaining proper cell organization and division processes.
