Centre-Periphery Model
The Centre-Periphery Model explains how economic and social activities are often concentrated in a core or central area—like major cities—where resources, infrastructure, and opportunities are abundant. Surrounding this core are peripheral regions, which tend to be less developed, with fewer resources and opportunities. This model highlights the uneven development between the center (more developed) and the periphery (less developed). It helps us understand regional inequalities, where the central areas usually benefit from better services and employment, while peripheral areas may lag behind economically and socially.
