Centrality Theory
Centrality Theory in social network analysis examines how certain individuals or nodes hold key positions within a network, influencing information flow, social dynamics, or resource distribution. It identifies influential actors based on metrics like how many connections they have (degree centrality), their role as bridges between groups (betweenness centrality), or their closeness to all other nodes (closeness centrality). Essentially, it helps us understand who holds power or influence in a network and how their position affects overall connectivity and communication within the group.
