Central Conflict

The central conflict is the primary problem or struggle at the heart of a story. It often involves characters facing challenges, opposing forces, or dilemmas that drive the narrative forward. This conflict can be internal (within a character’s mind) or external (between characters, groups, or with outside circumstances). It helps to create interest and tension, guiding the story towards resolution. Essentially, the central conflict is what the story is about—what the characters need to overcome or resolve to reach their goals.
