Central America Federation

The Central American Federation, also known as the Federal Republic of Central America, was a political union formed in 1823 after the countries gained independence from Spain. It included five nations: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The federation aimed to promote economic cooperation and political stability in the region. However, internal conflicts and differing interests among the member states led to its dissolution in 1838, resulting in each country reverting to individual sovereignty. This period is significant in Central American history, as it shaped the political landscape of the region.
