Cenozoic

The Cenozoic Era, starting about 66 million years ago and continuing today, is the recent chapter of Earth's history characterized by the rise of mammals and birds after the dinosaurs' extinction. This period saw significant climate changes, the formation of many modern continents, and the evolution of humans. It includes the Paleogene, Neogene, and Quaternary periods, during which Earth's landscapes, climates, and species developed into the diverse systems we see now. The Cenozoic is often called the "Age of Mammals" because mammals became the dominant land animals, shaping the planet's ecosystems still today.
