Cement types
Cement types are categorized based on their composition and intended use. Type I is standard Portland cement suitable for general construction. Type II offers moderate sulfate resistance and is often used in structures exposed to water or soils with sulfates. Type III is fast-setting and gains strength quickly, ideal for quick projects or cold weather. Type IV is low heat cement, producing less heat during curing, suitable for large pours like dams. Type V has high sulfate resistance for structures exposed to aggressive sulfate environments. Each type’s chemistry and properties ensure the right performance for specific construction needs.
