Cellular Membrane
A cellular membrane is a protective boundary that surrounds a cell, similar to a flexible, semi-permeable skin. It controls what enters and exits, allowing essential nutrients in and waste out while keeping harmful substances out. Composed mainly of a double layer of lipids (fats) with embedded proteins, it maintains the cell’s environment and communicates with other cells. This membrane is crucial for maintaining the cell’s structure, enabling transport, and facilitating signals that help the cell respond to changes in its surroundings.
