Cell-mediated immunity
Cell-mediated immunity is a part of the immune system that defends the body against infections, especially viruses and some bacteria. It involves specialized cells, mainly T cells, which identify and destroy infected or abnormal cells directly. Unlike antibody responses that target pathogens in the bloodstream, cell-mediated immunity works inside cells to eliminate threats and coordinate other immune responses. It’s crucial for controlling infections that hide inside cells and for helping the body recognize and eliminate cancerous cells. This type of immunity is essential for overall immune defense and works in concert with other immune responses for comprehensive protection.
