Cedrus (genus)

Cedrus is a genus of coniferous trees known as true cedars, native to the mountains of the western Himalayas and the Mediterranean region. These evergreens grow tall and have thick, aromatic wood and needle-like leaves grouped in clusters. Cedrus trees are valued for their durable timber, pleasant scent, and aesthetic appeal in landscaping and architecture. They thrive in rocky, well-drained soils and are often used as ornamental trees or for timber. The most common species include the Lebanon cedar (Cedrus libani), Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica), and Himalayan cedar (Cedrus deodara).
