Cedar Revolution
The Cedar Revolution was a peaceful political movement in Lebanon in 2005 that emerged to oppose Syrian influence and call for national sovereignty. Following the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, widespread protests demanded the withdrawal of Syrian troops, who had been present in Lebanon for decades. The movement successfully led to Syria's withdrawal and prompted political reforms aimed at strengthening Lebanon's independence and democratic institutions. It marked a significant shift towards national self-determination and showcased the power of nonviolent civic activism in shaping political change.
