Cecropis daurica
Cecropis daurica, commonly known as the Eurasian crag martin, is a small bird found across Europe and Asia. It has a slim body, long pointed wings, and a forked tail, often seen swooping low over cliffs, buildings, or rivers to catch insects. It builds open nest cups out of mud on vertical surfaces, like cliff faces or man-made structures. The bird is social, forming colonies, and is known for its agile flight. It feeds mainly on flying insects and is a common sight in urban and rural areas during warmer months, playing a role in controlling insect populations.
