CDK4
CDK4 is a protein found in our cells that helps regulate cell division and growth. It works by partnering with another protein called cyclin D to activate a process that pushes cells from a resting state into DNA duplication, leading to cell division. Proper function of CDK4 is essential for normal growth, but when it becomes overactive or mutated, it can contribute to uncontrolled cell growth seen in certain cancers. As such, CDK4 is a target for some cancer treatments aimed at slowing or stopping tumor progression.
