CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia)

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is a birth defect where the diaphragm, the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen, doesn’t develop properly. This allows abdominal organs (like the stomach, intestines, or liver) to move into the chest cavity, which can restrict lung growth and development. As a result, babies may experience breathing difficulties at birth and require specialized medical care. The severity varies, and early diagnosis plus prompt treatment can significantly improve outcomes. CDH is a serious condition, but many infants become well with appropriate medical intervention.
