CD5

CD5 is a protein found on the surface of certain immune cells, mainly T cells and some B cells. It acts as a marker to identify these cells and plays a role in regulating immune responses, including cell signaling and communication. CD5 helps the immune system distinguish between what is part of the body and what might be harmful, contributing to immune regulation. In medical testing, detecting CD5 helps diagnose and classify lymphoid diseases, including some types of leukemia and lymphoma.
