CD4 Cells
CD4 cells, also known as helper T cells, are a type of white blood cell that plays a crucial role in your immune system. They help coordinate the body's response to infections by signaling other immune cells to attack invaders like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Think of CD4 cells as the "conductors" of the immune system, guiding and organizing the defense process. Maintaining a healthy number of these cells is essential for fighting off illnesses. When CD4 cells are depleted, as seen in conditions like HIV/AIDS, the immune system becomes weaker and less able to fight infections effectively.
