CD20

CD20 is a protein found on the surface of certain immune cells called B cells, which are involved in producing antibodies to fight infections. This protein helps regulate B cell development and activation. In some diseases like certain lymphomas or autoimmune disorders, B cells can become overactive or abnormal. Medications targeting CD20, such as rituximab, can attach to this protein, helping to destroy or reduce these problematic B cells. This approach is used in treatments for some cancers and autoimmune diseases, aiming to modulate the immune response effectively.
