Causes of Cancer
Cancer develops when some cells in the body begin to grow uncontrollably due to damage or changes in their DNA. These changes, called mutations, can be caused by factors like smoking, exposure to harmful radiation, environmental toxins, certain infections, poor diet, lack of exercise, or genetic predisposition. Over time, these abnormal cells can form tumors, invade nearby tissues, and spread to other parts of the body. While not all mutations are preventable, reducing exposure to known risk factors and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can lower the likelihood of developing cancer.
