Cauchy’s principle value

Cauchy’s principal value is a mathematical way to handle certain integrals that might otherwise be undefined or infinite, especially when the integrand (the function being integrated) becomes very large or has a singularity at a point within the interval. Instead of evaluating the integral directly across the problematic point, it involves calculating the limit of the integral as you approach that point symmetrically from both sides, effectively “balancing” the contributions. This approach allows mathematicians to assign a finite, meaningful value to integrals that would otherwise be divergent, facilitating analysis in advanced mathematics and physics.
