Catherine Eddowes was a victim of the infamous Jack the Ripper, a serial killer active in London's Whitechapel district in 1888. She was a 46-year-old woman who worked as a fruit and vegetable seller. On September 30, 1888, she was brutally murdered and mutilated, with her body found in Mitre Square. Her death is part of the series of crimes attributed to Jack the Ripper, which drew widespread public and police attention due to the gruesome nature of the murders and the killer's apparent taunting of authorities.
