Castlereagh’s policies

Robert Stewart, known as Viscount Castlereagh, was a British diplomat and politician who aimed to maintain stability in Europe after the Napoleonic Wars. His policies focused on restoring monarchies, balancing power among nations to prevent any one from dominating, and repressing revolutionary movements. He led diplomatic efforts at the Congress of Vienna (1814-1815), creating a network of alliances to preserve peace and stability. While successful in curbing large-scale conflict for decades, his approach emphasized traditional monarchy and conservative order, often limiting political freedoms to uphold the existing social hierarchy.
