Castle of Southampton

Southampton Castle was a medieval fortress built around the 12th century to protect the area from invasions. It featured thick stone walls, a keep (main stronghold), and surrounding defenses. Positioned in Southampton, England, it played a strategic role in regional defense and local administration. Over time, the castle fell into disuse and was dismantled, with only archaeological remnants and historical records remaining. Today, the site offers insights into medieval architecture and England’s feudal history, but little of the original structure remains visible.
