Cast care

Cast care involves keeping a plaster or fiberglass cast in good condition to ensure proper healing. This includes keeping it dry—using plastic covers during bathing— and avoiding inserting objects inside to scratch or scratch the skin. Elevate the limb when possible to reduce swelling, and check for signs of problems like increased pain, swelling, burning, numbness, or a bad smell. If the cast becomes cracked, loose, or causes increased pain, seek medical attention. Proper care helps prevent complications, promotes healing, and maintains the cast's effectiveness.
