CASSETTE (Compact Cassette)

A cassette, short for compact cassette, is an analog audio storage medium that consists of a small plastic case containing two spools of magnetic tape. When inserted into a tape player, the tape passes over read/write heads that convert magnetic signals into sound or record audio onto the tape. Cassettes were widely used for music, spoken word, and data storage from the 1960s to the early 2000s due to their portability, ease of use, and affordability. Despite being largely replaced by digital formats, cassettes remain a nostalgic and collectible medium for audio enthusiasts.
