Case Study Houses

The Case Study Houses were a series of innovative residential experiments in Los Angeles during the late 1940s and 1950s. Sponsored by arts and architecture magazines, these designs aimed to explore modern, affordable, and efficient housing using new materials and construction methods. Architects like Charles and Ray Eames, Richard Neutra, and Craig Ellwood created models that emphasized open layouts, connection with nature, and functional living spaces. Although not all were built exactly as designed, the projects significantly influenced contemporary architecture, promoting ideas of simplicity, integration with the environment, and accessible modern living.
