Cascadia Earthquake Work Group

The Cascadia Earthquake Work Group is a team of scientists, engineers, and emergency planners dedicated to understanding and preparing for large earthquakes along the Cascadia Subduction Zone—a fault off the Pacific Northwest coast. They study the region’s seismic risks, develop maps of potential earthquake and tsunami impacts, and coordinate emergency response strategies. Their goal is to improve community resilience by raising awareness, informing building codes, and planning evacuation procedures, ensuring that local governments and residents are better equipped to handle a major earthquake and its aftermath efficiently and safely.
