Cascadia Convergence

Cascadia Convergence refers to the interaction zone where the Juan de Fuca Plate is gradually sinking beneath the North American Plate along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, located off the Pacific Northwest coast. This process causes the crust to crumple and generate significant earthquake activity. The convergence also leads to volcanic activity in the Cascade Range inland. Essentially, it's a dynamic boundary where two tectonic plates move towards each other, shaping the region's geology and posing earthquake and volcanic risks. Understanding this helps in preparing for natural hazards in the Cascadia region.
