Cartesian Theater

The Cartesian Theater is a concept in philosophy of mind that suggests there is a central "screen" inside our minds where experiences—including thoughts, perceptions, and emotions—seem to come together for us to observe. Think of it as a mental stage where consciousness "watches" itself. However, many scholars argue this idea is problematic because it implies a special observer within us, which can lead to infinite regress. Instead, modern understanding views consciousness as an integrated process without a singular "observer," emphasizing a more distributed and dynamic view of how we experience the world.
