Carotid Doppler scan

A carotid Doppler scan is a non-invasive test that uses ultrasound technology to examine the arteries in your neck, called carotid arteries. These arteries supply blood to your brain. The scan checks for blockages, narrowing, or plaques that could increase the risk of stroke. During the procedure, a technician applies a gel to your neck and moves a probe (transducer) over the area. The device sends sound waves that bounce off blood flow and artery walls, creating images and measurements. It's quick, painless, and helps doctors assess your stroke risk and determine appropriate treatment.
