Carotid arteries

The carotid arteries are major blood vessels in the neck that supply oxygen-rich blood to the brain, face, and neck. There are two carotid arteries, one on each side of the neck, running from the heart upwards. They are vital because they ensure the brain receives the nutrients and oxygen it needs to function properly. If these arteries become narrowed or blocked by plaque buildup, it can lead to serious problems like stroke. Doctors often check these arteries' health to assess the risk of cerebrovascular diseases and to prevent potential blockages.
