Carious Lesions

Carious lesions are areas of decay on a tooth caused by bacteria that produce acids when they feed on sugars. These acids gradually demineralize the tooth's enamel, leading to cavities or holes. If untreated, the decay can progress deeper into the tooth, affecting the underlying dentin and pulp, potentially causing pain and infection. Good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and reducing sugar intake help prevent carious lesions. Early detection and treatment, such as fillings, can restore the tooth's structure and prevent further damage.
