Cardiac muscle contraction
Cardiac muscle contraction is the process by which the heart pumps blood throughout the body. Specialized cells in the heart generate electrical signals that trigger the muscle fibers to contract. This contraction occurs in a coordinated manner, starting from the top of the heart and moving down, ensuring efficient blood flow. The heart's natural pacemaker, the sinoatrial (SA) node, regulates these signals. As the muscle fibers contract, they decrease in size, squeezing blood out of the heart chambers. The process repeats rhythmically, allowing the heart to function continuously and maintain circulation.
