Carchemish

Carchemish was an ancient city located near the Euphrates River, at the border of modern-day Turkey and Syria. It was significant in historical conflicts, particularly as a battleground during the late 7th century BCE between the Babylonian Empire and the Assyrian Empire. The Battle of Carchemish in 605 BCE marked a turning point, leading to the rise of Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar II. The city's strategic location made it a key trade and military hub in the ancient Near East, influencing cultural exchanges and power dynamics in the region. Today, it is an important archaeological site.
