carbon dioxide production
Carbon dioxide production occurs when our bodies generate energy. When we digest food and use oxygen to fuel our cells, chemical reactions called metabolism take place. These reactions break down nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, and proteins to produce energy, and as a byproduct, carbon dioxide is released. This gas then travels through the blood to the lungs, where it is exhaled out of the body. Essentially, our body’s process of converting food into energy naturally produces carbon dioxide, which we must breathe out to maintain balance and proper functioning.
